We weep silently

Why the soldiers head is bowed on the POW/MIA flag

I came from city streets, farms and small hill towns.  I fought on Iwo Jima, in the Ardennes, Seouol, Da Nang, Kuwait and Baghdad.

I flew missions over China, Germany, North Korea, Hanoi, and Iraq.

I was aboard ships that were sunk and submarines that didn't surface.

I left children fatherless.

I was a POW, MIA and KIA

My life was taken by a bullet, a grenade, an artillery round, my aircraft was shot down.

I gave my life for all freedom-loving people.  I rest now with God knowing I did my duty.

I did ask, "Why me?"  I also know the answer to that question.  I, and all my brothers who lay beside me, hear the people who remember our sacrifices; we also hear those who speak ill of our country and our brothers who are about to join us.

We weep silently.
