For Meeting Held 1 October 2007, at 1900.

 

Prior to the meeting, an awards presentation was made to Bonnie Davis for her work with John Southward, 90 year old China Marine.  Award presented by Joe Dixon. 

 

Commander Keith Wooldridge called the meeting to order IAW VFW ritual.

Roll call of Officers:  11 present, 2 excused, 2 absent, 2 vacant. 8 additional members present.

Distinguished visitors: Joe Darling, National Chaplin, Harry Blevins, Department Trustee & Jen Blevins, District Chaplin.

Committee Reports

Adopt-A-Road:  Scheduling one for October.

Membership/Buddy Poppy: 732 Life, 6 New, 8 Reinstate, 116 Continuous, 862 Total, 82.96% membership, $0 in Buddy Poppy Sales. 

Building: Vacant

Land & Rec: Grass is green.  Lots of wood donations.  Scheduling trip soon.

House: Manager turned over $3,000, nothing major on progress.

Golf:

VOD/Youth Essay: Essay’s are in the schools. Motion made and seconded to pay for half the costs of printing essay forms.  Seconded, passed.

Trustees: Quarterly audit to be done in the next 6-8 days.

Fundraising: Breakfast – 18 meals served, $6.00 profit.  Next Texas game on 14th.

Surgeon/Hospital:  Equipment now in the second well house.  23 Pints at the last drive, Next blood drive on Dec 15th.

Safety:

Upcoming Events: Breakfasts, Birthday/Halloween Ceremony, Veterans Day service to be held at Legion, Nov.11, TBA.

No Life member drawing.

50/50 drawing won by Ben Bunnell.  Donated to general fund.

 

Unfinished Business:

Standing orders for Bartender’s.  Basic rules and regs for operations should be produced.  Post Commander and Adjutant for action.

National is sending info regarding Home Depot Grants.

Nominations For Senior Vice Commander:  Chris Kinkel nominated himself as Senior Vice Commander.  Seconded.  Adjutant entered unanimous vote.

 

New Business:

 Ladies Aux Pres has requested permission to write the newspaper regarding placement of VFW in local Parades.  Motion to allow made and seconded for discussion.  Kinkel would like to see a unified letter from all Vet organizations together.  Letters have previously been written to C of Commerce to no avail.  Letter to be signed by Post Commander.  Passed.

Pete Sill made a motion to set aside $200 for purchase of a dishwasher unit from Whidbey Golf & Country Club.  Seconded.  Unit would be checked first.  Ladies aux to pay half.  Passed.

Motion made to vacate Junior Vice Commander position due to the absence of the current position holder.  Seconded.

Nominations opened for Junior Vice Commander.  None made.

 

Good Of The Order:

Quartermaster gave a report of the Leavenworth celebration.

Distinguished visitors introduced for brief comments.

A request for copies of the Hospital report and Service report for the District level was made.

Vietnam Veterans Tribute in Bellingham will be presented by the B’ham Chapter of Viet Nam Vets.  Friday, November 9th.  See Cecil for tickets.
