Sr. Vice Commander Keith Woodridge called the meeting to order IAW VFW ritual.

Roll call of Officers:  9 present, 6 excused, 2 absent, 0 vacant. 7 additional members present.

Committee Reports

Adopt-A-Road:  Clean-up coming in one week.  No new road space forthcoming.

Membership/Buddy Poppy:  746 Life, 48 New, 13 Reinstate, 215 Continuous, 1008 Total, 97.48% membership, 11 from 100%, $790.38 in Buddy Poppy Sales.

Building: Building security finished.  Windows now blocked.  Proposal to carpet meeting room referred to Jim Glascow for further investigation regarding the amount of carpeting left. Also plans under way to stretch the carpet closest to bar. 

Golf: None

Land & Rec: Tractor maintenance done, will mow tomorrow, some repairs still outstanding on mower.

House:  Back to one meeting per month. Hours change proposal in progress.  Manager and Quartermaster still working on books with Jones accounting.  Gordy hired as head bartender when on duty.  Question raised regarding legality of the hiring.  Question raised as to wages being paid.  Will be investigated by House Chair.  Final inspection by State Gambling rep stated great efforts have been made by Manager, State very pleased.

VOD/Youth Essay: 1 award left to give out.  Will be done on the 16th.  Anyone wishing to attend, contact Jim Glascow. JROTC award to be given also.  Two scholarships to be given out.  Will be making SOP for future use.  Jim will head committee to review and award scholarships.

Trustees: Audit report has been faxed to Department.  All corrections have been made to report.  Worst problems were nickel dime errors.  Gambling account right on, club account within $30.   Excellent results, high praise to Club Manager for her efforts.

Fundraising:  Texas Hold ‘Em.  One more game after this month, tournament in July.  Need volunteer to take over tournament after July.  About $250 to $300 per month to club.

Surgeon/Hospital: No report.

Upcoming Events: Installation dinner, parade in Coupeville, memorial services in Oak Harbor and Coupeville.

Break

Life member drawing won by Nole Scoville.  Not present.

50/50 drawing won by Stan Gearheart, donated to General fund.

 

Unfinished Business:

Accounting services discussed.  Should meet next week with proposed accountant.  Committee members will  hold interview with prospective accountant next week.

Motion made to dispose of an oven in, the kitchen that is only partially working.  Disposal of stove on hold until problems with new one ironed out.

Mike Pierzchala states new exit signs will be installed.  Possibly new post sign. No more info.

Jim Glascow checked into the possibility of using the V-Dome for renting booths for swap meets, garage sales, etc.  Should be a $10 per table.  Motion made to have swap meet/garage sale at charge of $10 per table.  Seconded.  Discussion held regarding the various logistics involved.  Motion passed.

 

Election of officers

Two year House Committee – Joe Mooney – passed.

 

New Business:

Motion made to change the hours of the canteen.  Seconded.  Motion amended to allow the Manager to change the hours of operation as required by business.

Questions on RV Park rules. 

Motion made to add to rule 14: regarding occupancies. Seconded. Withdrawn.

Motion made that the Post sells a weed sprayer unit not currently being used.  Seconded.  Discussion revealed the unit is being used.  Motion and second withdrawn.

Motion made to reduce the price of RV users not campers that are staying in excess of 30 days be reduced to $200 per month.  Seconded.  Motion failed. 

 

Good Of The Order:

Breakfast doing well.  $100+ turned in for last breakfast.

Sign needs to be posted to not use water hose at flushing facility for filling drinking water tanks.  Used to flush tanks.

State Convention in June.

Discussed VOD/Patriots Pen for next year.

Cert class at Legion on May 12th.  Takes three weeks to complete. 

Members went to Blue Star Ceremony from Garden Club. Star is planted on the ground.

District meeting held here on 6th.  Darrel Small is new Junior Vice, Cecil Pierce is new Senior Vice Commander, Keith Wooldridge is new Judge Advocate.
