For Meeting Held 4 February 2008, at 1900.

 

Prior to the meeting, an awards ceremony was held for Christopher Olson for his Voice Of Democracy entry.

 

Commander Keith Wooldridge called the meeting to order IAW VFW ritual.

Roll call of Officers: 12 present, 2 excused, 2 absent, 2 vacant, 1 additional members.

Minutes of Jan 7 meeting read and accepted.

Quartermasters report read and accepted.

Service Officers report: None

Member or family members in distress: Kevin Nelson brother passed away.

Committee Reports

Adopt-A-Road:  Good pick up, lots of trash, good turn out.

Membership/Buddy Poppy: 735 Life, 14 New, 17 reinstates, 173 continuous, 939 total 90.38% membership, $0 sales of buddy poppies.  Short discussion of membership drive plans.

Building: Paint project report.  Very good turnout, bar opened on time.  Dishwasher is on premises.  Commander has been tasked with project.

Land & Rec: Grass still green.  Water to be shut off from 11 AM to 1 PM for repairs.

House: Turned over $2500 to quartermaster. Managrs agreement reviewed and signed.  Authorized a $200 per month raise for the manager.  Spaghetti dinner on 21st

Golf: No report. 19th of July for tournament.

VOD/Youth Essay:  Two people placed at Department level.  One placed 2nd, one placed 3rd.  Sign up sheet for deliveries posted outside in canteen.

Trustees:  Audit held, second audit in a row balanced to the penny.  Managers books were perfect. Very good audit.

Fundraising: Texas Hold ‘Em going strong.  Averaging 18-20 per game.  50/50 still in progress.  Total approx $120.00.  Breakfast in January raised $240+ dollars.

Surgeon/Hospital: Blood drive 1 March.  Department report read.  Currently, Post 7392 is #1 in the district.

Safety: No report.

 

Upcoming Events:

NASCAR Daytona 500 17th, Texas Hold Party, and RCPOA Chili cook off on 10th.

District meeting on 10th.  Holland Happening in April.

Break

No Life member drawing.

50/50 drawing won by Chris Kinkel.  Donated to the relief fund. 

 

Unfinished Business:

Flag pole rope.  Costs for rope vary from $1 per foot, to $0.65 or .70 cents per foot.  Motion made to spend up to $200 for rope for the flagpole.   Seconded.  Passed.

Motion amended to paint the flagpole at the same time as the rope replacement.  Seconded.  Passed.

Chaplin ordered sympathy cards for just under $100.00. Motion made to reimburse Chaplin for purchase price of cards and a book of stamps, not to exceed $100.  Seconded. Passed.

Nominations open for Junior Vice Commander.  None.

 

New Business:

Motion made to talk to the manager regarding purchasing the fax machine not to exceed $150.00.  Seconded, passed.

 

Good Of The Order: None

Ben Bunnell stated that the efforts to recover from financial losses have been very successful.  Currently, books stand at about $76,000.  Stated all hands need thanks for the efforts.

VFW Post service Officer training on June 27 2008.  Time TBA.

Short report on Department Convention.  This Post is 1 of only 4 Posts in the State to be given the Jason award.  All reports were in on time.

Joe Dixon to be nominated for Service Officer of the year, and Veteran of the Year.
