Commander Pete Sill called the meeting to order IAW VFW ritual.

 

Roll call of Officers: 16 Present, 2 Absent, 1 Excused, 9 additional members present, 2 visitors.

Quartermasters report read and accepted. 

 

Service Officers report: 33 claims, 225 miles, 72 hours for January.

Committee Reports:

Adopt a Road: 3 people turned out.  Road cleaned.  Remember, first Saturday of the month.

 

Membership/Buddy Poppy: 724 Life, 44 new, 11 reinstatements, 161 continuous, 940 total for 96.91% from last year. 19 needed for 100%. 

 

Building: 8 Plumbing companies have reported, only one bid received.  Waiting for more.

 

Land & Rec: Lawn mowed, hope to have more volunteers. 

 

House: Manager authorized $200 monthly raise. $2,000 turned over to Quartermaster.  New system requested for operations of the Canteen.  Program is designed for VFW Canteens.

 

Trustees: Audit after the 15th of this month.

 

Fundraising:   50/50 is over $600.00.  Breakfast went well, 96 last month.  Turned in $340 this month, should be better this month.  Poker turned in $642 to Quartermaster. 

 

Surgeon/Hospital: 23 pints at last collection.

 

VOD/Youth Essay:  Corrected certificates, and last made certificates ready for presentation.  Date set.

 

Safety: No report.

 

Chaplain: Visited Randy Blakers family.

 

VFW Motorcycle Group: 16 paid members, patches on the way, possibly by end of the week.  Assisting in Island Wings Motorcycle Club to assist in patrolling the local marathon.

 

Golf: 17 July will be the date of this years tournament.  Format and entry fee will be the same.   Fee is $50 by July 9th, $60 after that date.  Carl Goetcher memorial on April 17th.

 

Rifle Raffle:  Setting up Committee to recommend prices, number of tickets, etc.

Motion made for the Adjutant casts a unanimous vote for all unopposed offices.  Kinkel, seconded Bunnell. Passed.

New bid still coming for plumbing.  No bid yet.  Tabled.

Quartermaster reported on way to reduce costs of phones and internet.  Price with Comcast for phones and internet will be $123.95.  Motion made (Kinkel) to accept proposal for Comcast, seconded by Pierce.  Tabled until May until representative can be available for discussion.

Ben Bunnell reported on the Rifle purchase.  Committee still forming all details of the raffle.

Dan Ryals gave info on plumbing bidding.  8 companies have responded, bids still coming.

Signs approved. Logos on the way for sign.  As soon as they are received, they will install same.

ATM:  Contract has been signed, will be installed April 15.  The Quartermaster was able to significantly reduce the previous machine repair bill, and has made several deals for reduced  contract items.

Disposal of the old machine.  Will be offered to any Post member for a 90 day period.  Then machine can be disposed of if no member wants it.

 

New Business:

Elections.  The Adjutant cast a unanimous ballot for all unopposed offices.

Motion made by Wooldridge to raise Scholarship reward from $1,000 to $1,500.  Seconded by Bunnell. Total reward would be $3,000 for 2010 contest.  Motion passed.

Motion made to purchase Point of sale register reported by the House Committee by Wilson, seconded by Johnson for the amount of $4,999.95 plus $99 per year maintenance contract.  Brian Wilson and Ken Kessler gave report on the system. Other Posts report success and enjoy the system.  Input was requested from visitor Cdr. Fred Green.  Input was very positive.  Discussion was held.  This item will go up $500 at the end of the month.  18 Yea votes, 5 nay votes, Motion passed.

 

Good of the Order:

Motion made to reimburse Adjutant for Office Max expenses.  Passed.

Carl Goetcher Memorial Golf Tournament 17th of April.

April 16th hanging of the bell at hole 16 for Carl.

Home Depot grants now available. Ben Bunnell will investigate.

Dianne Small running for Department President.  Fund raiser to be held on June 12 at the VFW.

Prime Rib, $15.00 per person, see Kathy Naff for tickets.

Viet Nam wall in Bellingham July.

Peace Arch Ceremony, Sunday June 13th.

Presentation regarding the A-3 Memorial program will be held after the meeting.

Home Depot offering 10% discount for purchases for military members and retirees.  Discount must be asked for.

Fred Green and Dean Miller gave brief requests for support in their upcoming elections.

Also requested support for VOD winner from Bremerton to travel to Japan for presentation.

District 15 Cdr. Small requests attendance at District elections and installation.

Motion to elect delegate for national Convention.  Pete Sill nominated.  Mike Piershala motion, Pierce second. Passed.
