For Meeting Held 5 Oct 2009 at 1900.
Commander Pete Sill called the meeting to order IAW VFW ritual.
Roll call of Officers: 17 Present, 1 Absent.
Distinguished Visitors: District 15 Commander Darrell Small, District 15 Senior Vice Commander Keith Wooldridge, District 15 Inspector District 15 Commander Cecil Pierce.
New Members: James McColley, John Faught, Anthony Vacchetto, Kenneth Casey, John, McSweeney.
Motion made and seconded to accept new members.

Minutes of 14 Sep 2009 were read and accepted with one amendment.
Quartermasters report read and accepted with no amendments.
Service Officers report: 58 claims for September.

Deceased Members: None
Committee Reports:
Adopt a Road: Only two people showed up at last clean-up. Took three hours and collected 15 bags of trash. More bodies needed.
Membership/Buddy Poppy: 720 Life, 11 new, 2 reinstatements, 81 continuous 814 total for 83.92% from last year; 156 short.
Building: Need floor repair in one of the bathrooms due to a flooded toilet (Men’s room) as well as plumbing repairs.
Land & Rec: Still looking for a campground host.
House: 3 of 5 present at last meeting. Still having issues with Profit/Loss statement, $2500 to QM.
Trustees: Will have completed quarterly audit by mid-month.
Fundraising: Breakfast served 107 patrons and brought in $311. Thanks for lots of help! 50/50 drawing up to $90.50 after last drawing.
Surgeon/Hospital: 31 units, 24 pints of blood. Surgeon would like to change over from Puget Sound Blood Bank to Madigan so soldiers don’t get charged for the blood if Madigan runs out. More information to follow in November.
VOD/Youth Essay: All items have been distributed, hope to present awards by mid-November.
Safety: Halloween is coming up, getting dark sooner, freeze warnings coming out so be careful driving and keep eyes on the road. Continuing road construction in the area, so drive carefully.
Chaplain: No report.
Break
Unfinished business:
1. Still looking for a host for the summer months.
2. Still need a Golf Chairman for next year.
3. Working to get Canteen Manager bonded.
New Business:
1. Cdr Pete Sill mentioned purchasing Post jackets. Motion was made to purchase 48 jackets for the post by Cecil Pierce, seconded by Dave Hollett. Discussion followed, motion was amended to purchase 24 jackets by Keith Wooldridge, seconded by Cecil Pierce. Motion passed.
2. Motion was made for sale cost of jackets to be cost + 10% by Ben Bunnell, seconded by Cecil Pierce. Motion passed.
3. Men’s bathroom floor was brought up and a motion was made to buy 40 tiles by Mike Pierschala, seconded by Cecil Pierce. Discussion followed with an amendment for authorization of $500 to repair the floor by Keith Wooldridge, seconded by Stephen Clark. More discussion followed, motion passed.
4. Veteran’s Day ceremony will be held at UW and a former member will be honored that day, motion was made by Ben Bunnell to rent a van to attend the ceremony as a contingency, seconded by Gary Cosper, motion passed.
5. Keith Wooldridge made a motion to host an Early Bird dinner, seconded by Ben Bunnell. Discussion followed, motion failed.
6. Food baskets for Christmas was brought up, motion was made by Keith Wooldridge to buy 10 baskets at $75 each, seconded by Don Zimmer. Discussion followed, motion passed.
Good of the Order:
1. Ben Bunnell brought up honoring the National Flag.
2. Post will be hosting a fish fry on 17 Oct.
3. Dick Whipple’s dinner will be held 24 Oct.
4. Newsletter inputs due by 20 October, paper or email.
5. Ladies hosting a “Map your Neighborhood” event, designed to help community/neighborhood to prepare for disaster. Held at the post 9am to 11am on 10 Oct.
6. Ben Bunnell mentioned to let veteran’s know that they don’t need to be members to get assistance.
7. Mail call covered by CDR Pete Sill. Donation requests and thank you letters were covered.
a. A motion was made to donate $50 to Relay for Life, motion passed.
b. Received three letters of appreciation for post support of their events.
c. Received a letter warning that the company “Patient Care Group” is a fraud.
8. District Inspector mentioned to add Ridex to the septic system to help prevent system backups. Overall, post is improving community support and involvement and passed inspection.
9. District meeting will be held at this post 13 December 2009. Also includes official visit from the Department of Washington.
10. Post was well represented at Leavenworth Arts Festival, 82 VFW and 67 Auxiliary members attended.
11. Oyster run hosting was a success.
Closing ceremonies were held at 2020.
