Unfinished business: None
New Business:
1. Review of bylaws were discussed and the following changes were recommended:
a. Article VI, Section 5, subparagraph (b): Delete the following from the end of the paragraph: “and I so, from what fund”. The committee agreed that the Service Officer can only obligate funds up to $250.00 from the Relief Fund. He has no authority to obligate monies from any other fund.
b. Article VII, Section 4, subparagraph (c): Change the word thirty to the word forty to coincide with the actual amount authorized per mile for reimbursement.
2. One 2-year house committee member post was missed during recent elections. Motion was made and passed to remove Brian Dale from the 2-year trustee position for non-attendance (9 absences). Gary Cosper appointed to fill position temporarily until 1 July and officially from that date. Notification will be provided to Brian Dale by Commander-elect Pete Sill.
3. Stan Gearhart mentioned the increase in camping fees.
4. Motion made and seconded to donate $150 annually to NJROTC Scholarship Fund, to be awarded upon presentation of medal to begin this year. Motion passed with one nay vote.
Good of the Order:
1. Outgoing District Commander Cecil Pierce thanked all for their support during his tenure and thanked Darrell Small and Keith Wooldridge for stepping up and supporting the VFW at the district level.
2. Commander-elect Pete Sill read a card received thanking our post for our presentation during the Holland Happening Day parade presentation recognizing our fallen service members.
3. Commander-elect Pete Sill read a letter from Senior Services of Island County requesting a donation for Project Life Saver (helps law enforcement and rescue personnel locate and recover Alzheimer patients and other mentally disabled persons that may have wandered away from their care center/givers). Motion made and seconded to donate $150 from the relief fund, passed unanimously.
4. Notification about Honor Flight (recognizes American veterans by flying them to Washington D.C. to view their memorials at no cost). Top priority given to WWII and terminally ill veterans at this time.
5. Doug Tyler was recognized for 25-year service. The post would like to thank him for all his years of service.
Closing ceremonies were held at 2010.
