Commander Chris Kinkel called the meeting to order IAW VFW ritual.

 

Roll call of Officers: 11 Present, 5 excused, 1 vacant

 

Distinguished Visitors: District 15 Commander Cecil Pierce, Arlington Post 1561 Commander Bill Morris

 

New Members: Mac Watts, Carry Martin, Randalf Stalone, Steve Porras

New Life Members: None

 

Motion made and seconded to accept new members.

 

Initiation of new members: None

 

Minutes of 2 March 2009 meeting read and accepted with no amendments.

 

Quartermasters report read and accepted with no amendments. QM paid more than $5000.00 to Island County for taxes, QM is investigating as to why the County didn’t have the correct tax status for the post on file.

 

Service Officers report: No Report.

 

Member or family members in distress: None

 

Committee Reports:

Adopt a Road: Weather (snow and ice) has not been conducive to this activity.

 

Membership/Buddy poppy: 726 Life, 33 New, 10 Reinstatements, 132 Continuous, 901 Total for a 91.29%. Buddy Poppies took in $25.00

 

Building: Leak by office has not been checked yet due to bad weather.

 

Land & Rec: There has been someone smoking in restrooms in the campground. Guest will be contacted after meeting (guest is not a member but is with a member).

 

House: No funds from canteen. House rules getting finalized and should be ready soon.

 

Golf: 18 July 2009.

 

VOD/Youth Essay: Small return on essays sent out. VOD Presentation will be 1830 2 Feb 2009. Prize monies discussed.

 

Safety: Hwy 20 construction discussed, specifically reminding all about lane closures.

 

Trustees: When bank statements come in, quarterly audit will be done.

 

Fundraising: Breakfast served 70 people and garnered $295.00. Texas Hold ‘em took in $325.00. 50/50 up to $140.00

 

Surgeon/Hospital: $9370.00 and 30 pints of blood, total of $11583.60. No schedule for blood drive yet.

Upcoming events: Valentine Dinner 14 Feb. Reserve seats by Feb 7th. Midwinter coming up later this month. Texas Hold ‘em, Post Breakfast, District 15 meeting will be Feb 8th.

 

Unfinished business:

  1. Flags at Memorial Park need to be changed.
  2. Dishwasher will be taken away since there was no interest by anyone on Craig’s List.

 

New Business:

  1. Letter from DAV requested a donation to help with the cost of a new van. Motion was made and seconded for a $300 donation. Motion passed.
  2. Discussion to close bar during monthly meetings. Motion was made to that effect and seconded. More discussion ensued. Vote taken and motion failed.
  3. Ben will check on a grant from Home Depot.
  4. Discussion was brought up questioning if the post was going to sponsor the oyster run again. Answer was in the affirmative. Advertising will start earlier.

 

Good of the Order:

  1. Bill Morris, Commander Post 1561 in Arlington spoke briefly about receiving a grant from Tulalip tribe.

 

Closing ceremonies were held at 2015.
