For Meeting Held 3 Aug 2009 at 1900.
Commander Pete Sill called the meeting to order IAW VFW ritual.
Roll call of Officers: 15 Present, 3 absent (all excused).
Distinguished Visitors: District 15 Commander Darrel Small, District 15 Senior Vice Commander Keith Wooldridge, Former District 15 Commander Cecil Pierce, Department Buddy Poppy Chairman Chris Kinkle.
New Members: Alicia Marie Perenkovich, Gale Norman Lau Jr., Joel Rudisill Treis, Carl Peter Hutnick II, Steven Henry Kukla, Albert Herman, James Alfred Taylor, Michael W. King.
Motion made and seconded to accept new members.

Minutes of 1 June 2009 meeting read and accepted with one amendment.
Quartermasters report read and accepted with no amendments.
Service Officers report: Exceptional accuracy is resulting in increased assistance to veterans. Info from Seattle is the approval rate for submissions is around 90%.
Member or family members in distress: Irene Gearhart going through Chemotherapy, Carl Goetcher is suffering from cancer (lymph system) possibly controllable.
Deceased Members: Clarence Lee Smith, Aaron D. Stanford.
Committee Reports:
Adopt a Road: Six people showed for July, took about an hour to clean up. Road looks good right now, nothing on the schedule for this month.
Membership/Buddy poppy: Buddy Poppy drive bought in about $60. Membership - 1 new, 22 continuous, 970 total.
Building: All recognition boards should be completed this month.
Land & Rec: Looking for a Campground Host (free stay in summer, ½ fee during winter) Took in $2700 last month; reminded all dog owners to pick up after their pets. Need help maintaining camp grounds until we get a campground host.
House: All members present at last house committee meeting. Manager turned over $2500 to quartermaster. Looking into opening canteen at noon since business is slow in the mornings. Beer and liquor prices have been raised.
Golf: Tournament was quite successful netting $2419.60 for the scholarship fund; will be looking for a new chairman for next year.
Trustees: Audit was performed and was off by $1.81. Books have been checked and re-checked, error cannot be found.
Fundraising: Breakfast served 82 patrons, turned over $260 profit to quartermaster. Poker tournament went well this year netting more than $4000. 50/50 up to $172.
Surgeon/Hospital: October 3 is the next blood drive. Funeral for Aaron Stanford is undecided at this time, more information later.
Safety: Warm weather precautions were covered as well as fire safety precautions. Keep alert for folks ailing due to heat related issues.
Break
Unfinished business:
1. Proposed changes to the by-laws were reviewed as well as a change imposed by the department by-laws, changing house committee structure and tenures. Motion was made by Chris Kinkle and seconded by Dave Hollett to accept the by-laws as previously amended and amended by department by-laws. Motion passed unanimously.
New Business:
1. Nominations were held for a 3-year house committee member, altering one of the 2-year positions. Stan Gearhart was nominated. Chris Kinkle cast a unanimous ballot for nomination.
2. Fee for National Convention will be paid this month.
3. Keith Wooldridge made a motion to purchase 5,000 Buddy Poppies for 2009/2010 year, seconded by Cecil Pierce. Motion passed unanimously.
4. Motion was made by XXXXX to alter structure of Youth Activities Award, grades 3-5. This gives three prizes per school instead of nine. Prizes will be reduced from 1 winner per grade at $50 each; seconded by Cecil Pierce. This reduces expenditures from $1600 to $1000. Motion passed unanimously.
Good of the Order:
1. District 15 Quartermaster requested assistance manning the coffee stops 14, 15 and 16 Aug, and Labor Day weekend; historically an excellent fund raiser. Both dates will be at Bow Hill southbound I-5.
2. Missing service member from Desert Storm has been found; being brought home this month.
3. Annual Leavenworth Maple Leaf parade will be 26 September; participation is encouraged. The VFW National President will be leading the parade this year.
4. National Night Out will be 4 Aug.
5. Annual picnic will be 15 Aug.
6. Honorable Rick Larsen will be at the American Legion 6 Aug from 1030-1200.
7. Looking for a golf tournament chairman.
8. The Naval Sea Cadet Corps was hosted 26 July consisting of 20 people ranging in age from 12 to 16.
9. Doug Tyler was awarded a Certificate of Appreciation for his service as Post Chaplain for 2008/2009.
Closing ceremonies were held at 2010.
