Commander Chris Kinkel called the meeting to order IAW VFW ritual.

 

Roll call of Officers: 13 present, 4 excused, 1 absent, 0 vacant, 2 additional members, 3 distinguished visitors.

Committee Reports

Adopt-A-Road: Cleanup held, ½ truck collected.

Membership/Buddy Poppy: 723 Life, 3 New, 2 Reinstatements, 71 Continuous, 804, 81.46 percent.  Buddy Poppy sales to be scheduled.

Building: Water heater is in, dishwasher operating. 

Land & Rec: Two new lights in V-Dome.  Fertilizing needs to be done.  Resident   

House: Turned over $2000.00.   Johnson resigned from House Committee.

Golf:  No report

VOD/Youth Essay:  Passed out to the schools.  Dollar amount requested for amount spent to produce forms.  $400 plus dollars.  Number of returned forms will be tracked to reduce future costs.  Copiers were stressed here, ways to reduce costs discussed including putting PDF file on the website.

Trustees:  No report.

Fundraising: Breakfast earned $256 to Quartermaster, need more volunteers.  Texas Hold ‘Em backed up still going strong.  50/50 at about $368. 

Surgeon/Hospital: Shed full of equipment.  Offer to be made to Soroptomist Club to accept extra gear.  Service officer for action.  $7,546 equipment.  19 Pints of blood, $9,179 total.  Next blood drive on December 7.

Safety: Getting dark early.  Watch for kids.  Use lights in adverse weather.  8” snow expected on North Cascade Highway.  October started already.

Upcoming Events: Breakfast last Sunday of the month, Halloween party October 31, Auction on 8 November, Special Olympics bowling 8 November.  Thanksgiving dinner coming soon, Seniors Christmas dinner,

Veterans Day 11 November.

Unfinished Business:

Bylaws change proposal read.  Only the changes are to be read. Slight discussion held.

Increase

Last month’s motion to cease DD214 or Page 4 requirement for joining was rescinded both motion and second.  Discussion held on who can verify same.  Secure storage will be provided.  Bartenders will be appraised of new rules.

Request made to have Service Officer request removal of vehicle from Parking lot.

Nominations open for House committee member, third time.  Fred Bishop. Nominations closed.  Adjutant recorded unanimous vote for Fred Bishop.

Results of MAPPS Program discussed.  Next program to be after the first of the year.

Last building bill for the storage shed delivered, $59.52.  Motion made to repay builder.  Seconded, passed.

Motion made to research cost of mountings for two donated flags.  Motion seconded. Passed.  Gary Cosner has for action.  Cost at Gene’s Paints approx. $500.00.  Space for display discussed.  Possibly where jukebox is when it is removed.  More investigation required.  Discussion and investigation continuing for placement of same.

Motion made to waive 2 months rent free (October, November) by Sill, seconded by Cosper.  Passed.

Motion made by Woodridge that the Post buy 5,000 additional poppies to be in line with All-American Post standards.  Seconded by Pierce for discussion.  Discussion showed Post can’t use the 5,000 we already buy yearly.  Motion failed.

 

New Business :

Service Officer raised a question regarding raising the limit of gas coupons from $10 to $30.  Motion made by Pierce, seconded by Sill for discussion to raise limit for gas coupons to $30. Discussion held.  Passed.

Two lights in the parking lots are out. Poles are dead, no power.

Flags need to be replaced at Memorial Park.  Post will replace same.  Quartermaster for action for purchase.

National Military Service donations discussed.  Motion made to donate $50 made by Tyler, seconded by Wooldridge for discussion.  Passed.

Northwest Center requested permission to place clothing donation bin on the property.  Motion made by Sill to allow placement.  Seconded by Cosper for discussion.  Company will maintain area around unit.  Motion passed.

 

Good Of The Order:

Sand for parking lot.  Was it actually purchased last year, and if not, can we buy it this year with last years motion.  Could be purchased, but may require insurance to spread sand.

Post Judge Advocate requested assessment against Quartermaster for wearing improper hat.  Assessed $3.00.

 

Distinguished Visitors:

Tom Darling spoke briefly.  Discussed donated home for homeless veterans.  This is a Department project.

Harry Blevins spoke briefly.  Performed required audit successfully. 

Cecil Pierce spoke briefly.  Thanked all for bringing in the new members.

 

Closing ceremonies were held at 8:34 PM.
