Commander Chris Kinkel called the meeting to order IAW VFW ritual.

 

Roll call of Officers: 14 present, 3 excused, 1 absent, 0 vacant, 2 additional members, 1 guest.

Minutes of Oct 6, 2008 meeting read and accepted with three corrections.

 

Quartermasters report read and accepted.

 

Service Officers report: More customers helped.  Service officer training in Sedro Wooley on November 14th.

Dave Holletts Grandmother In Law passed away.

 

Draping of the Charter for deceased members:

Committee Reports

Adopt-A-Road: Scheduled for Saturday the 8th, 0900.

Membership/Buddy Poppy: 724 Life, 18 New, 6 Reinstatements, 89 Continuous, 837 Total Members, 84.8% percent.  Buddy Poppy sales $24.  November 11th scheduled distribution date at three local stores.

Building: Building still standing.

Land & Rec: Host will fertilize this month.

House: $2,000 turned over to Quartermaster.  Meeting for 27 October cancelled due to lack of Quorum.  Money returned to pay scheduled taxes.

Golf: 

VOD/Youth Essay:  Stacks have been returned.  Judging ceremony to be held tomorrow at 6 PM.

Trustees: Audit held.  Quartermaster and canteen books matched to the penny, no discrepancies.

Fundraising: Breakfast earned $226 to Quartermaster, need volunteers.  Texas Hold ‘Em up, still going strong.  50/50 at about $425. 

Surgeon/Hospital: Next blood drive on December 6.  $8,215 in equipment.

Safety: Dark early, dark late.  Black ice is appearing. 

Upcoming Events: Breakfast last Sunday of the month, Auction on 8 November, Thanksgiving dinner coming soon, Seniors Christmas dinner. Veterans Day 11 November.  Elks having Veterans Day celebration November 11th, requesting all hands with medals.  Post invited to Eagle celebration on Sunday, November 16th at OH First United Methodist Church.  Special Olympics bowling on Saturday the 8th.  American Legion holding Vets Day ceremony this Saturday, Nov. 8.

Bylaws change proposal read.

Motion made to amend Article 6, section 7, to change the word including to excluding maintenance.  Tabled until next meeting.

Art 7, Sec 3, part b requires check of Nationals rules. Tabled.

Art 9, sec 1 passed.

Article 9, section 2 c tabled.

Motion to change Article 9, section 4 to delete duty manager tabled.

Art X, section 1 through 14 to be deleted.  Passed.

Further discussion of the Bylaws tabled until next meeting.

Two lights in the parking lots are out. Poles are dead, no power.

Flags need to be replaced at Memorial Park.  Post will replace same.  Quartermaster for action for purchase.  Flags have been ordered.

Motion made to sell the dishwasher on Craig’s list for three weeks, then scrap if unable to sell.

 

New Business :

Adjutant  resigned as of November 3, 2008.

Motion made to spend $750 on Christmas baskets @ $75 each. Passed, Stan Gearheart in charge.

Turkeys for thanksgiving being donated by Post members.

All Veterans my now salute the flag during National Anthem.
