Commander Keith Wooldridge called the meeting to order IAW VFW ritual.

Adopt-A-Road:  No occurrences, will set new date soon.

Membership/Buddy Poppy: 735 Life, 16 New, 21 reinstates, 174 continuous, 946 total 91.05% membership, $0 sales of buddy poppies. 

Building: None

Land & Rec: None

House: Turned over $2000 to quartermaster. Prime Rib on 13^th.  Short on house committee members.  Need help.  Canteen has received fine from Liquor Control Board for $250, and the bartender for $100.  Canteen is challenging fines. 

Golf: 19^th of July for tournament.

VOD/Youth Essay:  Checks are all written, 2 schools to go. 

Trustees:  No report since last month.

Fundraising: Texas Hold ‘Em still going strong.  32 players last game.  50/50 still in progress.  Total approx $174.50.  Breakfast in February raised $285 dollars.

Surgeon/Hospital: Blood drive netted 29 pints unofficially. 

Safety: No report.

Prayer for National Home.

No Life member drawing.

50/50 drawing won by Meredith.  Donated to the relief fund.

Flag pole rope.  Rope will be sized and ordered tomorrow.

Nominations open for Junior Vice Commander.  None.

Manager has donated the FAX machine as long as she has access for business use.  Key has been issued to manager.

Bob X reported on a Town Hall meeting.  Clinic in Mt. Vernon should be open in three months.  Report on bill in State Congress.  Senate Bill 5256 to be finished one way or another on Friday. 

VOD/Youth Essay: Discussion of the payment of checks for winners.  Last two years have paid more than previous years.  Motion made that we only pay first, second, and third per school instead of per class.  Seconded.  Discussion held. 

Scholarship Fund name discussed.  Motion made to change name of the Scholarship Fund to Youth Activities/Scholarship Fund.  Seconded.  Failed.  Motion made to only take scholarships from the Scholarship Fund.  Seconded.  Motin tabled until next meeting for research.

Bob X requested this Post support next years legislation regarding tax benefits to those service members in harms way.  This is a topic that has to be handled through District level. 

Good Of The Order:

VFW Post service Officer training on June 27 2008.  Time TBA.

Recent email “scam” regarding license plate fees.  Not something to worry about.

Holland Happening parade is April 26th.  Discussion regarding participation.  Marchers required if we participate.

Coupeville invited us for 24 May parade.  Post will participate.

Family Fair April 23 at the Navy Exchange complex.

Post Commander discussed letter from another Post for fund raising effort to pass a Bill into law to benefit veterans and their families.  Signup petition sheet will be posted.

Pete Sill spoke of return flight on Delta and the handling of a deceased comrade.

Cootie meeting is scheduled for March 16^th.
