Commander Keith Woodridge called the meeting to order IAW VFW ritual.

Roll call of Officers:  12 present, 1 excused, 2 absent, 2 vacant. 7 additional members present.

Distinguished visitors: Dave Kelley, Post Commander, & more, Alaska.

Minutes of Aug 6 meeting read and accepted with Blood Drive date amended to 15th vice the 19th.

Quartermasters report read and accepted. $2,486.29 going back to general account for checks written and not cashed. Checks have been cashed.

Motion made to allow road cleanup crew budget to be increased from $75.00 to $77.86.  Seconded and passed.

Committee Reports

Adopt-A-Road:  Clean-up held.  Next one to be scheduled.

Membership/Buddy Poppy: 0 Life, 5 New, 6 Reinstate, 102 Continuous, 113 Total, 10.88% membership, $0 in Buddy Poppy Sales. 

Building: Small head leak fixed.

Land & Rec: Camping good, wood has been donated

House: Manager turned over $4,500 to Post.  Chairman Gearheart made motion to change Annual Picnic from Sunday to Saturday, same weekend.  Seconded.  Passed.

Golf: None

VOD/Youth Essay: Will need help shortly for start and progress of the contests.

Trustees: Praised the current manager.  Books on excellent order. Money moving from canteen to Post.

Fundraising: Texas Hold ‘Em next Sunday.  Book updated for 50/50, pot approximately $275.00.

Surgeon/Hospital:  September 15th, December 1st, blood drives.  10 PM to 12 PM, 1 PM to 5 PM.

50/50 drawing won by Keith Wooldridge.  Donated to general fund.

 

Unfinished Business:

Pete Sill proposed a change to the bylaws, Article 10, Section a and b.  Motion made to remove the last sentence from Article 10, section a, “Any member who does not have an official dues receipt card in his/her possession must be signed in as a guest.”  And Article 10, section b, “All guests must be signed in the guest log with a legible, legal signature. And the sentence “Any person who is eligible to apply for Membership in the VFW, Ladies or Men’s Auxiliaries, may be signed in as a guest, no more than three (3) times during the calendar year.”  Motion seconded. Will be voted on in one more meetings.

Motion passed.

Standing orders for Bartender’s.  Basic rules and regs for operations should be produced.  Post Commander and Adjutant for action.

 

New Business:

Motion made and seconded to buy 5,000 buddy poppies.  Passed.

Chad Wolf nominated to fill vacant House Committee chair.  Nominations closed.  Adjutant made unanimous vote for confirmation. 

 

Good Of The Order:

Grant investigation discussed by BenBunnell.  Meeting has been rescheduled for tomorrow.  Report will be ready for next meeting.

Newsletter price reduction.  61 have been returned for address changes, deletions.

Breakfast Sunday the 30th

Discussion of taxation values after new evaluation.  Total property values exceed $1,000,000. 

Tom Darling has been named National Chaplin.
