Commander Cecil Pierce called the meeting to order IAW VFW ritual.

Service officer training on Feb 24, Post 1018 in Tacoma, 0900-1600 for beginning and intermediate level service officers. VA Center in Mt Vernon to be opened by end of year.

Committee Reports
Adopt-A-Road: Jan snowed out. February 17th next clean-up.
Membership/Buddy Poppy: 146 Life, 25 New, 10 Reinstate, 180 Continuous, 961 Total, 93.03% membership, 72 from 100%
Building: Passed Puget Power inspection. Refund expected shortly. Wall in back finished. Panic hardware on front door to be repaired. Lights on sign in front repairs requested. Wood for windows in back office.
Golf: Entry form for Gallery for 21 July, back up 28 July for annual golf tournament. $500 deposit required 8 days before the tournament. Motion made for $500 for tourney entry 8 days before tournament on July 13. Seconded. Passed. Note: same thing done last year, money not needed then.
Land & Rec: Weather precluded lawn care. Security of the campground log discussed. Currently, all but one paid up. Will be paid on owners return. Motion made to keep the campground log book in back room. Seconded. Discussion held. Passed. 1 nay vote.
House: Kinkel will remain as House Chair. Janitors contract discussed. Personal contact has been attempted, none made. Key revoked. Managers ad resulted in two replies, one requested removal after obtaining other employment. By default, Sandy Sill accepted the job. Pete Sill has resigned from the House Committee to rule out conflict of interest. New gambling licensee to be found, again conflict of interest. Facilities Rental Agreement discussed. Motion made and seconded to rescind previous fees assigned by the Post floor, and accept the agreement as approved by the house committee. Passed.
Substantial amount of money missing from bags in office after Commanders dinner and breakfast. Security measures have been taken to resolve problems. Restricted office entry, change in bartender money handling, etc. Meal money handling guidelines redone.
VOD/Youth Essay: Checks written for everything but VOD and teachers award. Discussed presentations. News releases in paper weekly. Results of District competition held. Change in Buddy Poppy rules allows other use. See new regulations.
Trustees: Quarterly audit held in December. Several small errors corrected. No major discrepancies, everything was within limits. Setting up monthly vice quarterly audits of gambling fund have been started. State gambling commission is currently auditing books. Monthly audit is requirement.
Fundraising: Texas hold ‘Em held on 28th. $265 raised. Sign up sheets for Feb up. Apologized that wife won $169.50. Would like replacement for fundraising events. Request for new ideas. Some food fund raising events coming up including car shows and car dealers. NACAR day for Daytona 500 coming up.
Surgeon/Hospital: No major changes. Equipment return from John Southard discussed. Blood drive on February 26th.
Upcoming Events: Holland Happening in April. Discussion of participation with other Veterans organizations held. Cdr Pierce to continue to set up parade with rest of group.
Breakfast at Mitzel’s to be held on Saturday the 3rd for Veterans groups, to discuss ways to better serve the veterans.

Unfinished Business:
Janitorial contract. Covered in house report.
Newsletter discussed. Motion made and seconded to use legal size format for upcoming issues of the newsletter. Passed. Motion made and seconded for one time return of undeliverable mail. Passed.
White truck removed. Discussion of ways to have vehicles removed held. Vehicles can be hauled for free by Christians, $5 notary fee.
New Business: Quartermaster reported on the status of the Post funds. Canteen is barely keeping Post solvent. Decisions need to be made soon regarding $40,000 limit.
Explanation of billings held. Discussion of reason for $40 K limit and what costs are incurred. Closure of the Canteen is not the desired solution.
Motion made (Kinkel) to suspend the motion to close the canteen at the $40,000 mark, for 60 days after the 1st of March. Seconded by Bunnell. Quartermaster requested figure to be entered into motion to close canteen. Amendment to motion, (Wooldridge) to lower amount to $30,000. Seconded (Kinkel). Discussion of reasons for the limit given. The Post and the canteen are separate entities. Closure of the canteen is not closure of the Post. Passed, 3 dissenting votes.
Nominations opened for third year trustee: Ivy Connolly nominated, passed unanimously.
Nominations open for House Committee Member: Bruce Wood, passed unanimously.
Post member needs to get a gambling license to back up manager’s license. Husband cannot hold license due to conflict of interest.
Norton antivirus to be updated on office computer.
Good Of The Order
Short discussion of activities held on weekends such as dancing, music too loud, etc.
Received mail read as applicable.
PO Rasmussen presented Flag & certificate to the Post for our sending “care” packages to him. Flag flown in combat zone.
New officers need to be considered for upcoming year.
